- Optimizing Value
- Integration of Renewable Energy into the Grid
A number of Alliance team members have three or more decades of experience in various aspects of Smart Grid, including Demand Response ("DR") and Grid Automation and Control. Building from experience in developing Demand Response programs that delivered hundreds of MWs in both regulated and deregulated markets, Alliance helps retail energy companies design and implement the DR programs appropriate for them. As part of this, Alliance will help optimize the DR value by considering factors such as wholesale market structure, supply resources available, customer mix, customer attraction/retention/engagement objectives, profitability objectives and value as operating reserves (especially with intermittent resources) vs. a real option for managing price spikes.
Alliance team members' experience in Grid Automation and Control help them bring an independent, experienced perspective in delivering Smart Grid projects with minimal delivery and operational risk. Alliance members are also helping integrate thousands of renewable/intermittent resources into the transmission grid, including addressing regulatory and operational risks.
As the coincidence of very high prices and very high load is one of the biggest tail risks facing retailers, Alliance includes DR as part of its partnering relationship with the National Energy Marketers Association.
