DAVID A. JENSEN - Associate
David Jensen supports Alliance clients in Risk Management, Modeling and Analysis.
David has worked most of his career in the middle office function at various levels from junior analyst to general manager and provided risk management and support services in energy commodities ranging from natural gas to propane to crude oil, heating oil, and ethanol for both producers and midstream marketers. He has also spent time as a trader, covering natural gas, heating oil, gasoline, gasoil and crude oil futures and options.
Most recently, he designed and implemented a global, contemporaneous valuation model for a residual fuel oil blending business. Through his career, he has been charged with varied projects including developing and implementing risk models from scratch, managing scheduling operations for a natural gas producer, writing policy to govern valuation and position management, and developing a sustainable framework to ensure regulatory compliance.
He has designed, built, and implemented VaR and Stress models for the crude oil, natural gas, residual fuel oil and ethanol marketing portfolios and helped validate models for structured product offerings to ensure visibility and risk capture, and has produced custom mark-to market reports in excel for management visibility. David was also part of a project team implementing an ETRM system. David has also developed margin collateral management processes using the new ETRM system, PC SPAN and SPAN Risk Manager, on one occasion recovering three million dollars in overcharged margin.
David holds a BA in Economics and a BS in Finance from West Virginia University, as well as an AS in Electrical Engineering Technology from Wentworth.
