Alliance is the project manager for the “Fargo’s Smart Energy Ramp” project with the North Dakota Industrial Commission (NDIC). In this project a combination of Distributed Energy Resource technologies (Photovoltaic, Battery Storage, Electric Vehicles, Smart Lighting, Intelligent Demand Management) are installed at the Roberts Commons (RoCo) parking garage in downtown Fargo, ND. This project included a number of local and national partners including:
The City of Fargo Xcel Energy Kilbourne Group Border States Electric eSmart Systems Innowatts, Inc MBN Engineering Microsoft Corp GreenWays2Go ChargePoint Recently Alliance co-presented a status report on the RoCo Project to the City of Fargo’s “Sustainability and Resiliency” Committee. See HERE. One key element of this report was highlighting how this combination of DER measures could lead to the RoCo ramp being carbon neutral. North Dakota Governor Burgum has set an aggressive goal of ND becoming carbon neutral by 2030. This project is a potential showcase as one way to get to carbon neutrality in one sector of the economy. Another reason for this project was to help in the revitalization of the downtown economy. Local developers are seeing that this project is indeed helping to attract and retain the type of 21st century workforce that ND and the Fargo Microsoft campus seeks.
